Meet Dr. Richee Berry
I love seeing kids smile and laugh when leaving my office. Even better is when a child arrived feeling super nervous and, after a stress-free appointment, is now grinning and telling us they can’t wait to come back!
My team – the doctors and staff – is a group of people who love treating our pediatric population, as much as playing with them and being silly to help each feel comfortable. We all love to sing, dance, and even play jump rope games to set children at ease in a very non-clinical and non-threatening manner.
As a pediatric dentist, I enjoy providing care and motivation to my patients, and also appreciate what they bring into my life. Our interactions help me stay in touch with what is going on in young kids’, pre-teens’, and teenagers’ worlds: this keeps me young at heart and energized!
Education and Professional Affiliations
I have been a practicing pediatric dentist since 2005. I completed a Bachelor of Science at Morgan State University and my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland. I then completed my Pediatric Dental Certificate at Howard University.
Pediatric dentistry, like all areas of healthcare, is a constantly advancing specialty. Through active continuing education, I stay current on the latest options, incorporating the best into the practice and patient care.
I have taken courses through Progressive Orthodontic Seminars for traditional orthodontics and aligner training. I have also attended specialized training in tongue and lip ties through the Tongue Tied Institute, and training in hard and soft tissue lasers through the Biolase Laser Institute.
These ongoing studies allow me to offer a wide-range of services, from laser “needle-free” dentistry to orthodontics. I am also able to provide assistance to infants with feeding issues and toddlers with speech issues due to lip- and tongue-tie.
I am a member of the:
- American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
- American Dental Association
- American Black Women in Dentistry
- Mommy Dentist in Business
These professional organizations offer numerous opportunities for me to further my studies, from online webinars to meetings, lectures, seminars, and publications.
Beyond the Office
My passion for oral health extends beyond the practice. I treasure participating in many community outreach events that promote kids, education, and healthy lifestyles. I really love going into the local schools to talk about oral health!
I love equipping our children with the tools they need, through our annual book bag and school supplies giveaway. I also work hard to help parents in the winter, by donating hats, scarves, gloves, and oral hygiene products.
I am thankful to live and work in a wonderful, dynamic community. It is a pleasure to be able to give back and help others, especially those who might need a little extra support. I also love for the children to see me outside the office, and to get to know me beyond just being their dentist!
Personal Life
Raised in Yonkers, NY, I’ve lived with my family in Upper Marlboro for almost 20 years. My husband and I were college sweethearts; now we’re the proud parents of two beautiful daughters.
Time with loved ones is a priority when I’m not caring for patients. I especially enjoy attending and supporting my daughters’ cheerleading competitions. I also like bike riding, power walking, and, when I can find the time, relaxing on my porch with a good book.
